Battle of the Books (BOB)

OLQA Wins First Place at the Newport-Mesa Battle of the Books – Three Years in a Row!

For the third consecutive year, our outstanding 4th and 5th-grade team took home FIRST PLACE at the Newport-Mesa Battle of the Books on March 27, 2025! Competing against students from six Newport-Mesa Unified School District (NMUSD) schools—Eastbluff, Andersen, Mariners, Newport, Newport Coast, and Sonora Elementary—our ANGEL scholars once again emerged victorious.

Since September, these dedicated students have met weekly to read, analyze, and discuss over 20 novels, demonstrating incredible commitment and teamwork. Their perseverance and love of reading truly paid off! Congratulations to our winning Green Team members: Faustina (Captain), Xavier, James, Audrey, Mason, Grayson. We are incredibly proud of their motivation, teamwork, and positive spirit throughout the year. Way to go, ANGELS!
